REPUBLICAN vice-presidential running mate Sarah Palin believes Democrat rival Barack Obama regrets not choosing Hillary Clinton for his US presidential ticket.

Alaska Governor Palin praised Senator Clinton in the second part of her first TV interview since pairing with Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

Mrs Palin said of Senator Clinton: "What determination, and grit, and even grace through some tough shots that were fired her way - she handled those well."

Meanwhile Mrs Palin's husband, Todd, will be summonsed over an abuse-of-power investigation.

He will be asked to cooperate with a probe into allegations Mrs Palin sacked Alaska's public safety commissioner after he refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law, a state trooper.
